Jacob Vanneste Research Artist

Jacob Vanneste (°1990) lives and works in Brussels. Trained as a classical percussion player, he always had a larger interest than the pure craft of musicianship.

His search to own ways in the sound world led him to projects like the Quixtet, Two Envelopes (www.twoenvelopes.be) or developments of sound installations. The main core of his artistic work are both creation and astonishment, together with a big attention about the sound experience of the audience. Often this implies an unusual live-setting towards the audience. For most of his work he collaborates with composers and artists from other artistic fields.

Jacob received subsidies for his project Two Envelopes from the Flemish Government and the VGC, and was in residency in Q-O2, Wilde Westen, Les Ateliers Claus and Overtoon. He played in venues like Stuk, deSingel, Concertgebouw Brugge, Les Ateliers Claus, Musica (Oortreders Festival), Klangforum Heidelberg and Orgelpark Amsterdam.

In Overtoon he did research about the sound Installation 'What's in a vinyl?'.
