Melodie Blaison
Mélodie Blaison is a french artist, flutist and composer based in Brussels. Integrating her classical training with experimental and electronic production, her research is rooted in a desire to create narrative, immersive and sensory experiences.
After studying flute at the Conservatoire, she graduated from the Fine Arts School of Nantes (Fr) in 2016. She continued her studies at the post-graduate diploma Arts et Sound Creation at the ENSA of Bourges (Fr) in 2021.
Her work is a space of experimentation where modular sculptures, immersive installations and sound objects are mixed. She is interested in hybrid spaces that can generate fiction while questioning our relationship to the world via creative processes rooted in care, ecofeminist theories, or the poetic mapping of speculative worlds.
With a sensual, intimate approach to breath, her music, somewhere between acoustic and synthetic, is a ceremonial interval whose ghostly presences and organic harmonies disturb landmarks and stretch time into an emotional journey.
Her work is shown in different places like Nantes, Marseille, Bourges, Strasbourg, Bruxelles, Rotterdam, Copenhagen, Bristol or Paris.
Avant le Rivage, released in 2024 on Wabi-Sabi Tapes, is her second album, following VINTVRI, released on Grande Rousse Disques in 2022.
